We recognize that artificial intelligence can provide many useful services: searching, organizing, correcting, rephrasing and illustrating. We choose to use it with discernment, as an assistant serving our mission, never as a substitute for our relationship with God, our responsibility, spiritual discernment or the leading of the Holy Spirit.
But examine all things; hold fast what is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21
Preparing a teaching involves studying the Scriptures, prayer, discernment, knowing the congregation and the personal responsibility of the speaker. AI can support this work, but it must not become its source or replace the preacher’s journey before God.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
- Preliminary research on a historical, cultural, geographical or linguistic context.
- Organizing ideas already worked through: outline, order of sections, synthesis or clarification.
- Spelling and grammar correction, style improvement or rephrasing of an already written text.
- Editing help: shortening, clarifying, adapting the level of language or improving how content is conveyed.
- AI must not write a sermon or a teaching in the preacher’s place.
- A message must not be the result of a simple instruction given to an AI and then presented as the fruit of study, prayer or the leading of the Holy Spirit.
- Every Bible reference, quotation, historical fact and theological statement proposed by an AI must be carefully verified.
- AI must never be presented as a source of revelation, prophecy or spiritual direction on the pretext that God is its source.
But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word. Acts 6:4
Praise is an expression of faith, worship and thanksgiving that requires a spirit and a soul. We want to preserve its human, spiritual and authentic character. AI tools can support certain technical steps, but they must not become the authors of the church’s praise. AI-generated “Christian” music is not, and never will be, praise.
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24
- Correction of an already written text, improved flow or alternative wording.
- Technical help for a demo, an arrangement, a transposition, audio editing or production work.
- Research into vocabulary, synonyms or Bible references, with human verification.
- AI must not write, in an author’s place, the lyrics of a song meant to carry the church’s praise.
- It must not produce an entire song (lyrics, melody, vocals and instrumentation) that would then be presented as a spiritual expression of a worship team or of the community.
- Just as with teaching, an AI-generated text must never be presented as a word received from God or as prophetic inspiration.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
Pastoral care rests on presence, listening, compassion, discernment, confidentiality and relationship. A human or spiritual situation cannot be reduced to a set of data entrusted to a piece of software.
Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, not by compulsion but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly. 1 Peter 5:2
- General research into resources, themes or references that can help a leader look more deeply into a question.
- AI must not replace pastoral listening, spiritual counsel, prayer or a leader’s discernment.
- It must not write, on the leader’s behalf, personal responses to someone being accompanied when the situation calls for listening, discernment and pastoral responsibility.
- Names, confessions, prayer topics, family situations, health data, financial information or any confidential details about a person must NEVER be shared with a public AI.
AI can help create and improve images, flyers, posters, presentations, graphics, videos and texts. Speed of production must never take priority over the quality and truth of what is published.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23
- Creating images, illustrations, backgrounds, graphic elements or layout suggestions.
- Designing flyers, announcements, presentations, social media visuals or event materials.
- Correcting, rephrasing or improving communication texts.
- Generating first drafts that are then selected, reworked and approved by the ministry lead.
- Content published in the church’s name must be well-crafted, credible and consistent with the visual identity guidelines.
- Visibly artificial, generic or clumsy visuals that look like the mass-generated images seen everywhere must be reworked or set aside.
- Typical generation errors — inconsistent text, deformed hands or faces, wrong symbols, improbable details — must be checked and fixed BEFORE publication, or not used at all.
- When the realism of an image could suggest that an event, a person or a situation really existed, it must be truthfully labelled to remove any doubt.
AI is a tool and remains a tool in our hands. The direction of the church and its spiritual life belong to the Holy Spirit.
